My bad … I should have remembered that you actually dump out a lot of useful information into the logs. (Actually, a lot of the config.status files for the associated libraries that I've built around S-lang/ISIS aren't as detailed or clear - a shame, really.) > If the isis installation instructions posted on the web are > inadequate, perhaps you would suggest how they can improved, Mostly because at this point, I still consider it a "research project" :) But since he referenced my instructions, I thought it best to have them out there, rather than just sitting in a few inaccessible places. (Plus the instructions go a little further than just building ISIS - they are also pointing to where to get Xquartz & Sourceforge gfortran, and that shouldn't be something that you necessarily want to keep on the ISIS page.) The extent to which this stuff "fails" on Apple is something I'm still trying to figure out, and it is dependent upon how far afield one is going. For me, Xspec local models are failing in *heasoft itself*, long before I get to ISIS. (Anything involving the udmget libraries is well-nigh impossible on the Mac, using any compiler.) Likewise, I have had 0 luck with g95, despite what HEASOFT says. I am also hesitant to suggest a "better" path until I've got everything I want working (which might involve some module updates here and there). The path I sent him gets me, at least, XSPEC + ISIS + any local models not involving udmget calls. I've got the GSL module working. I have the Xfig module installed, but haven't tested it yet. The XPA module is running and mostly working, but there might be an issue with how it passes the WCS around (there's definitely an issue there - although whether it's with XPA, the XPA module, or the newst DS9 I can't say yet). I haven't been able to build the GTK or HDF5 modules yet. If I can get the XPA module stuff cleared up and at least the GTK module built, then I'd be more comfortable suggesting tweaks to the Mac OSX install instructions. -Mike ---- You received this message because you are subscribed to the isis-users list.
