I am a principal research scientist at the Kavli Institute for Astropysics and Space Research (CSR) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before coming to MIT I used to design CCDs (Charge Coupled Devices)
and other VLSI for
quite a while. My primary research interests now are soft X-rays, solid state
X-ray, optical and gamma-ray sensors with particular interest in X-ray and optical CCDs and CMOS Active Pixel Sensors.
The big projects I was involved with (and still am) are:
ACIS (which stands for Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer
flown on board Chandra X-ray Observatory ),
ASCA - a Japanese X-ray satellite
(called Astro-D in a development stage),
HETE
(High Energy Transient Experiment), and SUZAKU (another Japanese X-ray satellite for which
our group built a CCD focal plane).
Here is the list of some of my publications,
some of my conference talks (not up to date),
and internal memos (also, only old ones).
Many of them can
be found on-line. I also hold 10 patents issued
in Russia and USA for various CCD and MOS technology innovations.
