Colm earned his Ph.D. from Monash University in 2020. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher with the LIGO Laboratory, Caltech. Colm is an active member of the LIGO scientific collaboration predominantly within the compact binary coalescences working group. By analyzing individual compact binary mergers and entire populations of events, he attempts to determine how stars evolve, compact binaries form and merge, and testing strong-field gravity.
