The MIT Kavli Institute aims to combat systemic racial inequities that are deeply embedded in our society. MKI is working to improve the representation and experience of blacks and other people of color in our educational and scholarly community. We are motivated first by a moral imperative to do better by our black students and colleagues, and second, from the belief that an invested and professionally productive workforce thrives when all members of a community feel they belong.

In the summer of 2020 we convened an Anti-Racism Task Force, charged with researching and producing an advisory plan. That plan, which took the form of a report to MKI’s Director, is being peer reviewed. After the review, we will implement a series of concrete steps
