At the end of each academic year, all faculty, salaried staff, postdoctoral associates and fellows are required to complete a report of their Outside Professional Activities for the prior year. Faculty reports are handled by the academic departments, while MKI postdocs, research staff, and administrative staff submit theirs for review by Rob Simcoe. Compensated and uncompensated activities should be reported, provided that they meet the definitions in the form.

At proposal stage, Principle Investigators must answer proposal-specific COI questions in MIT’s Kuali Coeus proposal system to determine whether further disclosure is required. If the sponsor has a COI policy , then more questions and annual disclosures will be required for the life of the award. Key personnel may also need to disclose.

Disclosures are reviewed and approved by MIT’s COI officer; if a COI plan is necessary one will be completed before funds are available for spending.

Note: All Sponsored Fellowships require disclosures by the PI and the Fellow.
