1. Preface

  SLxpa is a software package which provides XPA bindings for the S-Lang
  scripting language.  It was originally developed in 2002 at the Smithsonian
  Astrophysical Observatory, as part of the CIAO analysis package developed
  to support the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, and is covered by the notice
  COPYRIGHT.SAO in the root of the CIAO distribution (and included below).

  The standalone module (distributable independently of CIAO) was created
  at the MIT Center for Space Research between 2003 and 2004.
