isis-0.9.66 is now available from http://space.mit.edu/CXC/ISIS The most significant new feature is the ability to apply multiple responses to a single dataset. A new function 'assign_rsp' has been added for this purpose. This new feature is mainly intended to support multi-order analysis of LETG/HRC data. For a usage example, see the 'Examples' section of the ISIS web page. This type of multi-response analysis is also applicable to CCD spectra where the instrument response varies signifcantly across the spectral extraction region. This provides an alternative to the "RMF-averaging" approach which others have suggested for handling this problem. The new release also includes support for user-defined fit-statistics written in S-Lang. The Cash statistic and several alternate forms of the chi-square statistic are now built-in. -- John -- John C.
