Yes, those are the variables that you want to get access to  
(eval_counts will return them in a similar manner).  However, John has  
also implemented the storing of "meta-data" in a parameter file via  
save_par (and probably some functions with _hook in the name).  See  
the .help file for save_par.

One of these days we have to write save_all/load_all commands that use  
that meta-data, and also does things like save the binning & what  
not.  In the meantime, as Dave suggests, write_col should do the trick  
for you.
