Keep in mind that essentially every 0.0.1 increment of HEASOFT, John has to twiddle the make files on ISIS because the XSPEC folks have changed something. So, one usually has to wait a little bit (i.e., a week or two) between a recent release of HEASOFT and a compatible ISIS. (Often the lag is my fault, since I do the HEASOFT builds, and given that this is the 8th one in 2 years, it's getting tiring to keep up.) With Sherpa, for example, the answer is to build against a static snapshot of the XSPEC models, thus you get a version that's probably 6 months old, and doesn't have access to the XSPEC local models. One interesting thing to note: they claim this is the last HEASOFT release with XSPEC V11, since they don't want to keep up with compilers for the old one. (The recent gcc 3.4 -> gcc4.1, 4.2, or 4.3 transition being a case in point.) I am much more used to building local models against XSPEC v11, and ISIS has no problem incorporating those into a session. Should be jolly good fun making sure that starting with XSPEC 6.6.1 (undoubtedly released in time for Xmas), we do that with XSPEC 12 only... -Mike ---- You received this message because you are subscribed to the isis-users list.
