pileup:help

I have tried to model some piled up data. I keep getting an error message
like:

...
isis> fit_counts;
*** pileup: Exposure = 2998.35
Current parameter values and their derivatives
yielded a singular matrix
Chi-square minimization failed
S-Lang Error: Intrinsic Error: called from line 15, file: <stdin>
86
4
7681.85
isis>
...

for which I couldn't figure out the reason. Can anybody give useful
comments on this?
