  I've run into that as well...  One time it was beacuse
I had several spectra (data sets) loaded and I had not
ignored ones I was not interested in (and/or large regions
of the one I was interested in but did not want to fit)-
I think this gavea huge CHiSquare that varied little with
the paramters!
