Fan Zhang
Postdoctoral Associate Postdoctoral ScholarI have been interested in managing and orchestrating virtualized resource provisioning smartly and economically for fluctuating workloads in elastic cloud platform. Recently, I am interested in characterizing, tuning and optimizing big data applications and workloads such as Hadoop, Giraph, etc. Novel programming models addressing the needs in cloud computing, such as elasticity, streaming and real-time, are also among my research interests.
1. Solid Skills with C/C++/Java/Python, data structure, theory of database, Linux system administration
2. Hands on experience with Hadoop, HBase, Pig, Cassandra, Hive, Globus, Condor, Nigix, Tomcat, MySQL, etc
3. Mathematical and optimization skills: Calculus, Matrix theory, Probability theory, Operation Research, etc.
4. Familiar with large data processing programming models like MapReduce, Pregel, etc.
5. Rich experience in writing English papers and reports & English oral communication"
