A goodly question if I've ever heard one. I am a research scientist in the Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research at
MIT. I recently completed a stint in the
Astronomy Department of the
University of Michigan, from which I also
received my Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Way back
in 1996 I received a B.A. with High Honors in
Physics from
Oberlin College, the best damn college
in this quadrant of the Galaxy.
If you're interested in my research over the past few years, you're in the
wrong place. Go here.
I was born near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the gentle spring of 1974.
When I was two, I robbed my first bank in Wichita, Kansas. After a wild
cross-country crime spree, I was forced to move down to Bolivia for several
years until the heat got off my back. I spent these years in solitary
training, teaching myself
Bushido,
the Way of the Warrior. My skill with a blade quickly developed, and I
vowed one day to return to my homeland and seek vengeance against my
oppressors. At the age of six, I met a sultry flamenco dancer named Michelle. We were quickly married,
and one year later we returned to the States to reclaim my birthright, our
only possesions being my sword and her castinets.
Well, okay, so I stretched the truth a bit back there. We didn't get
married until 1999. Here we are just after our 5th anniversary, don't we
still look happy? (I'm the one on the left, the guy in front is just a
friend.)
We don't have a cat in a
hammock, but we do have some cats. This
is Miles, who passed away on January 2, 2007. I have a bunch
of other pictures of him and his
sister, Sachi. Sachi has been trying to get along with a new brother named
Boris, and he has some pictures as
well.
