The intensity does not seem to indicate that it would be an ACIS damage concern. The HETG should have been in at that point according to the TLR in any case. It may be worth processing that science data rapidly to check for increased background -- OBSID 336. see: http://asc.harvard.edu/mta_days/mp_reports/19991118/ephkey/html/ephkey.html The following channels indicate a flare: SCP4GM SCP8GM SCE150 SCE300 This coincides with the peak of the GOES8 low energy proton monitor: http://solar.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/pro_3d.cgi Yousaf __________________________________________________________________ Yousaf Mahmood Butt Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics Chandra X-Ray Observatory Center Phone: 617 496 7729 60 Garden Street, MS-81 Fax: 617 495 7356 Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. phone pager: 1 800 SKYTEL2, PIN: 1636449 e-mail pager: 1636449@skytel.com Cell phone: 617 721 4368
