The heg and meg arfs in this directory
were generated via the
following sequence:
(1) an aspect histogram was generated
via mkasphist;
the data used
to generate the histogram came from
obsid 1235 (Capella)
(2) mkgarf was then run for each of the
6 ACIS-S chips
for each grating,
for m=-3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3
(3) the arfs for each order were then
summed over all
6 chips, generating
the final arf for the given
grating
o The heg/meg arfs were generated for the source at the
nominal aim-point
on ACIS-S3
NOTE:: The leg arfs were extracted from the Type
II .arf file
hrcs042798436N000_letg_rsp2.fits.
THIS FILE HAS NOT HAD
DITHER
TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT!!
CAVEATS:
- Only brief testing has been done; the arfs were read
into
XSPEC along with the corresponding rmf; XSPEC
was able to
generate a "fak" dataset using these arf/rmf
combinations,
but I did not do any other analysis and only
tried this
for a few of the arfs
- keywords needed to be patched in by hand; there may thus
be
a few missing

The response matrices in this directory were generated
using a Gaussian model for the LSF. In the case of the heg
and the meg, the gaussian parameters were derived from
MARX simulations. The leg data were derived from the file
http://asc.harvard.edu/cal/Links/Letg/Cip/letgD1996-11-01res_optN0002.rdb
These matrices are redistribution only, and they have been
normalized to 1.0.
They have been tested in XSPEC and have performed well,
though the user is warned that they were not subjected
to rigorous testing. The heg_res.ps and meg_res.ps files
give plots of the measured E/dE values versus "real" data
(the line). The values were measured from gaussian fits
to output from XSPEC fakeit, using a delta-function input
model. The (one) diamond is a second-order fit while the
(one) triangle is a third-order fit.
