Chandra - Science After School Spring Initiative

The Education and Public Outreach Office of the Center for Space Research partnered with Mayor Thomas M. Menino's Boston 2:00-to-6:00 After-School Initiative, Museum of Science, Boston and four after-school programs to offer a follow up to the Chandra - Science After School Pilot. The new initiative, sponsored by NASA, consisted of 3 sessions at the Museum of Science that occurred during the Spring semester of 2003.

At each session, students involved in the after school initiative would:

  • Engage in hands on, interactive learning activities.
  • Hear a dynamic presentation by an MIT scientist or museum staff followed by a question/answer session.
  • Visit museum exhibits related to the science topic presented.

The talks presented by our scientists were open to all museum visitors. They were held at the Current Science Technology Center at 4:15 pm on each of the following dates:
