Research Interests:

X-ray and extreme ultraviolet observations of active galactic nuclei and quasars modelled with accretion disks around supermassive black holes

Polarization of soft X-rays from active galaxies and neutron stars and the design of an instrument to measure polarization to 1-3% (PRIZE Fact Sheet in PDF format)

Quasar optical and X-ray luminosity functions and their evolution

Hot neutron star atmospheres and X-ray bursts from them

X-ray and extreme ultraviolet observations of accretion disks around neutron stars in low mass X-ray binaries

Statistical methods in astronomy, specializing in faint source detection and the use of maximum likelihood techniques
